Myths of the USA Coup #234: The Economy is Getting Better

Not only is the US economy not getting better...it's about to get a LOT worse.

We have noted many times the lies told in sponsorship of the economy. Look at the anemic job creation rates of the past two months...roughly 150,000, less than that rquired to keep pace with the population growth, and both revised downward after the first announcements.

But tonight's blog focuses on the "premium" the US economy receives through the dollar being overvalued. Now Russia, soon China, have decided to peg their economies to the Euro rather than the dollar.

Russia said yesterday it had abandoned efforts to tie the rouble's movement closely to the dollar and switched to shadowing both the euro and the US currency.

The move heightened expectations that other countries operating de facto dollar pegs, such as China, could follow suit. With 81 per cent of Russia's oil exports currently sold to Europe, the move also provoked fresh speculation that Russia could decide to denominate its oil in euros. Russia is the world's second-largest oil exporter, behind Saudi Arabia. "Russia has talked about the idea of pricing its oil in euros. If it is starting to put more weight on the euro in terms of its forex regime and reserves, then that speculation will be re-ignited," said Ian Stannard, currency strategist at BNP Paribas.

Why is this important, you ask? Global Policy Forum has an answer:

The key to it all is the fiat currency for trading oil. Under an OPEC agreement, all oil has been traded in US dollars since 1971 (after the dropping of the gold standard) which makes the US dollar the de facto major international trading currency. If other nations have to hoard dollars to buy oil, then they want to use that hoard for other trading too. This fact gives America a huge trading advantage and helps make it the dominant economy in the world.

As an economic bloc, the European Union is the only challenger to the USA's economic position, and it created the euro to challenge the dollar in international markets. However, the EU is not yet united behind the euro -- there is a lot of jingoistic national politics involved, not least in Britain -- and in any case, so long as nations throughout the world must hoard dollars to buy oil, the euro can make only very limited inroads into the dollar's dominance.

In 1999, Iraq, with the world's second largest oil reserves, switched to trading its oil in euros. American analysts fell about laughing; Iraq had just made a mistake that was going to beggar the nation. But two years on, alarm bells were sounding; the euro was rising against the dollar, Iraq had given itself a huge economic free kick by switching.

Iran started thinking about switching too; Venezuela, the 4th largest oil producer, began looking at it and has been cutting out the dollar by bartering oil with several nations including America's bete noir, Cuba. Russia is seeking to ramp up oil production with Europe (trading in euros) an obvious market.

The greenback's grip on oil trading and consequently on world trade in general, was under serious threat. If America did not stamp on this immediately, this economic brushfire could rapidly be fanned into a wildfire capable of consuming the US's economy and its dominance of world trade.

This is the position the USA has enjoyed for 30 years -- it has been getting a free world trade ride for all that time. It has been receiving a huge subsidy from everyone else in the world. As it[s] debt has been growing, it has printed more money (written more cheques) to keep trading. No wonder it is an economic powerhouse!

The US is living on borrowed time. Once a switch to use another currency begins, the cracks in the edifice will become fissures, will become canyons. Living on borrowed money and borrowed time, the US dollar is devalued enough now to make it "worth it" for all these countries to write off the huge US debt owed them. Especially the poor but powerful countries. Europe and Japan, after all, will take the biggest hit when no one wants to touch the dollar anymore.

And even the war couldn't stop it.

The Battle of the Bulge: Censorship to Hide Bush's Cheating

It's official. Our "liberal" media killed the story about Bush being wired for the debates because everyone else was too afraid to be labeled as conspiracy-theorists to stand up to the Not-So-Pretty Hate Machine.

Bush was wired during the debates. That is a plain and simple fact. Among the items showing yet again the sad failure of anyone to stand up against the Bush oligarchy, see the following:

1. ...the Bush campaign had specifically, and inexplicably, demanded that the Presidential Debate Commission bar pool TV cameras from taking rear shots of the candidates during any debates.

2. The White House and Bush/ Cheney campaign had initially mocked the bulge story when it had run in Salon, first attributing it to "doctored" photos circulating on the Internet.

3. ...later claiming that the bulge, so noticeable in video images, was the result of a "badly tailored suit"

If you made up these kind of inconsistent, obvious lies for your boss, you'd be (rightfully) fired. The sad fact is:

"Cheating on a debate should affect an election," says Bagdikian. "The decision not to let people know this story could affect the history of the United States."

A man of "deep moral conviction" cheats...flagrantly cheats...on the only public, unscripted test of his competence for office. The voting machines, as pointed out by Angry Girl, cheated the voted. Bush is a fraud and a cheater and a small, small man. And the US has undergone a coup.

Bush kisses Lieberman back

I've disliked Lieberman for a long, long time. But he got his reward for kissing Bush's derriere for years... Bush kissed him in public at the State of the Nonunion address. And right on Lieberman's derriere, too. The big one supported by his neck.

No wonder Bush wants gay marriage nixed once and for all. Otherwise Laura might get jealous.

Gonzales & The Salazar 6: 20/20 Moral Vision Initiative

The Bite will be officially sponsoring the 20/20 Moral Vision Initiative in response to the Salazar 6 vote for Gonzales.

20/20 Moral Vision Initiative

Senators, great deference is due a President in his choice of a Cabinet.
However, no deference is due to torture or to those who enable it and
those who condone it. Alberto Gonzales is unfit for the office of
Attorney General because he has enabled and condoned torture, making it
an official policy of the United States. The stain on our country
remains from the actions of the President, Mr. Gonzales - from whence
Abu Ghraib sprung. Yet you chose to appeal to the "political center" by ignoring the "Moral Center". Simply stated your "Yes Vote On Gonzales Condones Torture."

As you chose safety, others chose justice. My future support in terms of time and money, a commitment of 20 hours of time and $20, will go first to those candidates and causes who unequivocally oppose torture. I will continue to vote for all Democrats, but my active support in terms of you six will be another matter.

Please send your name and location to twenty20moralvision@yahoo.com. I will forward this initiative and names to Salazar Six.

20 Amazing Facts about Voting in the USA. Hopefully Angry Girl is not the only one peeved. It's like the whole phony Pentagon missile/"plane", when you look at everything together, it's hard not to come away scratching your head wondering at what exact time the US was taken over.

Here are the facts, please go to Angry Girl Nightweed.com for the URLs to support them...

1. 80% of all votes in America are counted by only two companies: Diebold and ES&S.

2. There is no federal agency with regulatory authority or oversight of the U.S. voting machine industry.

3. The vice-president of Diebold and the president of ES&S are brothers.

4. The chairman and CEO of Diebold is a major Bush campaign organizer and donor who wrote in 2003 that he was "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year."

5. Republican Senator Chuck Hagel used to be chairman of ES&S. He became Senator based on votes counted by ES&S machines.

6. Republican Senator Chuck Hagel, long-connected with the Bush family, was recently caught lying about his ownership of ES&S by the Senate Ethics Committee.

7. Senator Chuck Hagel was on a short list of George W. Bush's vice-presidential candidates.

8. ES&S is the largest voting machine manufacturer in the U.S. and counts almost 60% of all U.S. votes.

9. Diebold's new touch screen voting machines have no paper trail of any votes. In other words, there is no way to verify that the data coming out of the machine is the same as what was legitimately put in by voters.

10. Diebold also makes ATMs, checkout scanners, and ticket machines, all of which log each transaction and can generate a paper trail.

11. Diebold is based in Ohio.

12. Diebold employed 5 convicted felons as consultants and developers to help write the central compiler computer code that counted 50% of the votes in 30 states.

13. Jeff Dean was Senior Vice-President of General Election Systems when it was bought by Diebold. Even though he had been convicted of 23 counts of felony theft in the first degree, Jeff Dean was retained as a consultant by Diebold and was largely responsible for programming the optical scanning software now used in most of the United States.

14. Diebold consultant Jeff Dean was convicted of planting back doors in his software and using a "high degree of sophistication" to evade detection over a period of 2 years.

15. None of the international election observers were allowed in the polls in Ohio.

16. California banned the use of Diebold machines because the security was so bad. Despite Diebold's claims that the audit logs could not be hacked, a chimpanzee was able to do it! (See the

17. 30% of all U.S. votes are carried out on unverifiable touch screen voting machines with no paper trail.

18. All -- not some -- but all the voting machine errors detected and reported in Florida went in favor of Bush or Republican candidates.

19. The governor of the state of Florida, Jeb Bush, is the President's brother.

20. Serious voting anomalies in Florida -- again always favoring Bush -- have been mathematically demonstrated and experts are recommending further investigation.
